This is so awesome. I need to reread Godblog. I reread every book that I enjoy, but this in particular would be a great spirit lifter/rage venter for my friend's 20 year old daughter.
Thanks for re-pointing it out to me. The old sieve, I mean memory, just ain't what it used to be.

My mom embraced the whole Pink thing. She bought the Cancer Beanie Baby. She has a pink ribbon bead on her bracelet. It's the sort of thing she loves. I'm wearing a pink wrist band for her and a lime green lymphoma one for my friend's daughter. I guess it's a way to "channel" my thoughts and wishes towards them. Prayer, if you will.

But, I love the anger kit. More realistic. Excellent for those moments of realism. :)

Instead of a teddy bear, maybe the men would get a little toy car.

There's a book I want to read called "Pink Ribbons, Inc.: Breast Cancer and the Politics of Philanthropy" by Samantha King that looks at the growth of breast cancer philanthropy. But it also covers this (from the Booklist review):
"However admirable the effort to find a cure, King argues that it overwhelms efforts to learn how and why women get breast cancer and how it can be prevented. Prevention efforts could help more low-income women who lack the means to pay for treatment."

That's very intriquing.

Interesting evolution... I'm especially glad to see I'm not the only one who finds the "pink" cult disturbing. I not only privately disdain it, I avoid anything having to do with it. Dag (and you of course) are incredibly realistic, not dark, and permissive of the full gamut of human emotional response.

I'm curious what men might get in a pink cult-equivalent giftpak, when they have prostate cancer... A travel size Old Spice after shave, a baby blue pillowcase, a small tin of chewing baccy, same tape--Meditation to Help with Chemotherapy, your last two condoms, a third "Celebration Condom" in case you get It back, and either a toy Ferrari or toy Harley.

I would appreciate more visual materials, to make your blog more attractive, but your writing style really compensates it. But there is always place for improvement
